Van Gogh's Oil Paintings
Although Van Gogh only sold one painting in his whole life, he is now one of the most influential artists in history. Van Gogh's paintings are considered "post-impressionist"; after his death, his paintings were taken as models of the following styles: Abstract, Expressionism and Fauve.
The thick strokes and wavy lines in the paintings are considered inspirational. Van Gogh not only invented an original technique, but also created a strong and recognizable aesthetic, combining impressionist strokes, surrealist contrasts, and shapes with great expressive power.
